I am big fan of Glenn Rand’s book. He is incredibly knowledeable and knows his subject inside and out. Amherst Media is my favorite photography publisher and the two have created yeat another great book!

The content is a little different than other books which makes this a keeper!. My collection of Amherst books just keeps growing and growing.

I highly recommend this book. I have referred to it a few times since first getting it…..not something I can say about ALL my books in my library.

I hope that you enjoy it. :-)

I admit – i did “random look inside” thing before buying this. And i got page with flower shot and i liked diagramm and page. But unfortunately there are about 10 more pages like that.

Rest of book is quite typical and going on and on about same old topics. I mean if you new to idea and do not really know what apparent size is, and stuff like that – you will be pleased. I do know what it is, so i kinda dissapointed at lack of real neat tricks. For new people – I would suggest Light: Science and Magic and Lighting Techniques For Portait Photography over this one any day.

This is an intriguing and helpful book on lighting for photography. Utilizing terms that I did not generally associate with photography, the author explains light in simple terms. His careful description of numerous light sources is beneficial to a total understanding of lighting and how it works. A very well presented textbook.

Everything you wanted to know about light and lighting is covered. Harnessing light to carry the images visualized ties together this nicely written book that is interesting and informative from cover to cover. As I read through I learned a lot about things I have heard of or taken for granted but did not know of in detail. I recommend this book and feel it would be a rewarding experience for anyone.
