I feel that, for beginning young photographers, this book does an excellent job explaining the technical aspects of photography (and uses real examples to do it). I would also recommend looking into Brian Peterson's "Understanding Exposure" though, in many ways it is better than this book. Certainly if you aren't a teenager, you would definitely get more out of Peterson's book. But this is great too, go for it!
